Owners and tenants living in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) clusters are being asked to obtain parking access cards as JLT overseers activate new parking barriers across the mixed residential and commercial development.
Senior officials with JLT and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre are advising residents that JLT Clusters B and D “have been activated and others will follow in a phased approach beginning in September 2012”.
Officials said they contacted tower developers and respective owners’ associations to give them advance notification of the erection of parking barriers.
“We would encourage all unit owners and tenants to contact their respective tower representatives to obtain access cards as soon as possible,” the officials said.
Matthew Lomax, Manager, Property, DMCC, said that the objective behind new parking barriers is “ensuring property-owners who have purchased the right to the exclusive use of a parking space in their development have access to it. The current activation of the parking barriers across the community is in accordance with Dubai law.”
Cost of the new access cards is not known and will vary depending on different towers, he said.
“Cost of parking is at the discretion of the tower sub-developer,” said Lomax.
There will be sufficient free parking to accommodate daily and weekend visitors to JLT, he said.
“Parking varies for each tower but every cluster will have appropriate visitor parking that aligns with the residential and commercial make-up of each building,” Lomax said.
The way it will work is that each cluster will have its own shared and gated parking.
“Each cluster has common parking areas to be shared among the three towers and each tower will have their own parking behind barriers. Concordia, on behalf of DMCC will be managing and operating all parking barriers,” Lomax said.
